The Norse offense continued to struggle Thursday night, failing to score for the second straight game in a 2-0 loss to Eastern Kentucky University. The loss gives the Norse a 0-3 record to start the year.
The Norse only took seven shots, with four of those shots coming off the foot of Jessica Frey. Frey had three shots on goal but was unable to convert on any. In addition, Macy Hamblin did not play for the Norse.
The Norse also struggled to defend against the Eastern Kentucky offense. The Colonels took 23 total shots, 15 coming in the first half. EKU also took seven corner kicks while NKU only had one opportunity for a corner.
Colonel forward Emmi Carroll scored her first goal of the season in the 23rd minute off an assist from Jordan Foster, giving the Colonels their first goal of the game. The second goal of the game came in the 68th minute when Erin Torrence beat Norse goalkeeper Emily Lohmann to the ball and scored from seven yards out.
The Norse will play their first home game on Monday night when they welcome Morehead State. The two programs last played during the 2014 season, when the two teams played to a 1-1 tie.
