The women’s soccer team split a pair of matches this weekend, losing Monday to Robert Morris 2-1 after defeating Illinois-Chicago Saturday, 2-0.
A 79th minute goal by Robert Morris broke a 1-1 tie. Lauren Pietrowski scored off of a long cross by Kristie Hamilton to score the game-winning goal.
Robert Morris (4-7) opened the scoring in the 24th minute with Cassie Raymond’s fourth of the season. It was 1-0.
NKU (6-3) would answer in the 75th minute. Macy Hamblin sent a cross into the box. It bypassed two Robert Morris defenders before Aubrey Muench got on the end of it and scored. It evened the match, before Robert Morris would win it four minutes later.
The Norse outshot Robert Morris 14-13 and 8-7 in shots on goal. Brooke Schocker recorded five saves for the Norse, while RMU keeper Chelsea De Jager had seven saves in the victory.
Macy Hamblin led NKU with four shots, including two on goal.
Saturday, Schocker picked up the shutout as NKU remained unbeaten in Horizon League play against UIC.
Morgan Shafer started the scoring in the 12th minute. Maria Silbersack and Jessica Frey had assists.
Katelyn Newton made it 2-0 in the 85th minute off of a free kick just outside the box.
Schocker made four saves in recording the clean sheet. NKU outshot UIC 15-9, including 7-4 in shots on goal.
The women return to action 1 p.m. Saturday at Detroit. That game will be televised on ESPN3.
