NKU women’s basketball ends weekend 1-1 after 73-68 loss

NKU women's basketball fell to Cleveland State 73-68 Saturday afternoon at BB&T Arena. In the conference the Norse are now 2-2 and have an overall record of 8-7. Sophomore forward Emmy Souder and Sophomore point guard each led with 18 points apiece. Sophomore point guard Ally Niece followed with 11 points, shooting from 50 percent at the 3-point line. Junior center Grayson Rose had 17 rebounds from the boards.

NKU women’s basketball take down Youngstown State in Conference home opener

The Northern Kentucky women’s basketball team captured their eighth win of the season Thursday night at BB&T Arena 75-56. The victory over the Youngstown State Penguins is also the second conference win for the Black and Gold. Coming into the game YSU was the overall leader in the Horizon League.

The Northern Kentucky men’s basketball team won its Horizon League conference opener Saturday afternoon against the Milwaukee Panthers 74-64 at BB&T Arena. Senior guard Tyler Sharpe led the Norse with 31 points, including six 3-pointers. This game was Sharpe’s third consecutive 30 point performance.

‘Refreshing,’ the presence of male cheerleaders at NKU

Cheerleaders are a great way to get a crowd hyped up, especially during sporting events.  NKU’s group of cheerleaders cheer for and support a variety of different sports at NKU, but one support system that goes unnoticed is between the male cheerleaders on the team.

The in-state battle Sunday night ended in NKU’s favor with a 76-57 win. The Norse are now 7-3 on the season. Senior forward Dantez Walton led with 18 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore guard Trevon Faulkner also had 18 points and led in assists with seven.

On Sunday afternoon the no. 2 ranked University of Louisville Cardinals women’s basketball team will face NKU’s women’s basketball at BB&T Arena. The game won’t be a big deal just for the Norse but will mean a lot for Head Coach of the Lady Cardinals, Jeff Walz.

NKU's volleyball team ended their season Friday night against the University of Michigan 3-0, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Norse end their season 19-13 overall.
