Rebecca Lyttle (3) had 15 points and 18 rebounds Wednesday in NKU’s 71-68 loss to Cincinnati.

CINCINNATI, Ohio — A jumper with less than 90 seconds remaining helped Cincinnati defeat the NKU women’s basketball team Wednesday evening, 71-68.

Rianna Gayheart tied the game with 1:59 remaining with a three. Cincinnati (2-0) answered with a jumper with 1:29 remaining by Bianca Quisenberry.

Following a Bearcat free throw, NKU had a chance to tie in the final seconds. Shar’rae Davis hoisted a three in the waning seconds, but it rimmed out. UC grabbed the rebound and held on for the win.

Rebecca Lyttle had a monster game, scoring 15 points and pulling down 18 rebounds, including 8 offensive rebounds.

Christine Roush led the Norse in scoring with 19 points. She also have five rebounds. Two other NKU players finished in double figures. Gayheart finished with 13 while Molly Glick had 11.

Four UC players finished in double figures in scoring, led by Jasmine Whitfield with 18. Ana Owens and Alyesha Lovett each had 14, while Quisenberry finished with 11.

NKU (2-1) returns to BB&T Arena 1 p.m. Saturday for a showdown with Marquette from the Big East. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
