NKU, Oakland men’s soccer battle to 1-1 draw

NKU men’s soccer player, Ronald Moss, scores NKU’s only goal in the match vs University of Cincinnati that finished in a tie. NKU hosted University of Cincinnati on Friday, August 29, 2014 at the NKU Soccer Stadium, drawing a tie at 1-1.

Despite being outshot 20-8 Saturday, the NKU men’s soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with Oakland at NKU Soccer Stadium.

NKU keeper Toby Frohlich made seven saves in 110 minutes to earn the tie.

Oakland (5-3-2 overall, 2-0-2 Horizon League) opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Matt Dudley scored off of a free kick from the top of the box.

It remained 1-0 Oakland into the second half. Four minutes after the restart, Johannes Jansen scored off of a volley. The 49th-minute goal was assisted by Bastian Beckers and evened the match at 1.

In addition to outshooting NKU 20-8, they had the advantage in shots on goal 8-4 and corner kicks 5-0.

Jansen and Alwin Komolong led NKU with two shots a piece. Jansen, Komolong, Diego Martinez and Ronald Moss had the four shots on goal for the Norse.

The men return to action 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cleveland State.
